Adoption Process & Information
Our goal is to find permanent, loving homes for all of the dogs and cats that we
rescue.  We keep the best interest of the pet in mind when placing them into their
fur-ever homes.  Below is an outline of the steps involved to adopt a pet from us:

Fill out an Adoption Application.
Ditty Dats & Dogs Rescue will then call your veterinarian to ensure that all of
your other pets have been vaccinated, we will call your county to ensure that
you have never had any animal cruelty charges filed against you, and we will
also confirm your employment.
If your existing pets are not current on their vaccinations, then we will require
you to bring them to a veterinarian to get them up to date.  You will then be
required to show proof of vaccinations.  No pet will be adopted to a home if
existing pets are not current on their vaccinations.
If you are adopting a dog, and you already have a dog, then we will schedule
a dog-to-dog introduction.  This is to ensure that the two dogs will like each
other.  We do not want to place one of our rescued dogs into a home with
another dog that it will not get along with.  This will save the dog from having
to be returned to us later because the two pets just couldn't get along.
A home visit will also be required.  A member from Ditty Dats & Dogs will
visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet you
wish to adopt.  This is a good opportunity to ask any questions that you may
have about what to expect when you bring your new pet home.
At that time, if you are approved for adoption, then we will schedule the pet to
be spayed/neutered if this hasn't been done yet.  NO PETS ARE ALLOWED
TO GO HOME IF THEY HAVEN'T BEEN SPAYED/NEUTERED YET.
Once the pet is ready to go home, we will schedule a date/time for you to
pick up your new pet, or for it to be delivered to your home.  You will be
required to sign an Adoption Contract at that time.  Your contract will
stipulate that if for any reason you are unable to keep the pet, that it must be
returned to Ditty Dats & Dogs Rescue.  We will make every effort to adopt the
animal out to another home.  We definitely do not like to see our rescued
friends go back to the animal shelter.
The adoption process typically takes 3-7 days to complete before your
application is approved.  Depending on the vets schedule, it may take up to
two weeks to get the pet in to be spayed/neutered.  This time will give the
new adoptive family ample time to prepare their home for their new pet!

Adoption fees are charged to each adopter when they come to pick up their new
