Update 3/18/09 : It took almost 2 years, but all of the kitties have been
adopted!  Sam and Bubbles were adopted today and will live together in their
new home in New Hampshire!  :)

Update 8/15/08 : Mitch the darling solid black boy with a permanently scarred
eye from a corneal ulcer has been adopted!

Update 3/1/08 : Jeff my sweet one eyed baby boy was adopted today!  Jeff was
also renamed "Jack" too!  He was adopted with "Peanut" a beautiful girl that
came from the same feral colony.  There are now only 3 kitties left from this
group of 11 kitties.  I know that Bubbles, Sam and Mitch will find permanent
loving homes soon!

Update 1/14/08 : Joy and Dylan have been adopted!  Now there are 4 kitties left
from the Eleven Is Heaven group.

Update 11/18/07 : Did I mention that Bubbles is now my friend?  Up until the
past few weeks she was very wary of me - yes, even after living with me all
these months.  But, for some reason out of the blue, she decided to let me pet
her.  Now, she's a very affectionate little girl!  She likes to jump up and press
her back really hard against my hand while she arches for the best petting!
She's such a sweet girl and I'm so proud of her for overcoming her fear of
people.  She's a quiet girl, but I know that the perfect purrrson will come along
and fall in love with her and take her home!

Update 10/18/07 : Darling Lynn and adorable Meg have been adopted!!!  6 more
kittens still need new loving homes.

Update 10/12/07 : Sweet little Krista has been adopted!!!  8 kittens are left now.

Update 9/23/07 : We still have 9 kittens left that need new permanent loving
homes!  These babies are waiting patiently for families to find them and take
them home.  All kittens are now on the Adoptable Cats link - please check
them out and adopt one if you are looking for a new kitten to love.  They are all
very healthy and happy now!  Thanks!

Update 8/23/07 : We have raised all of the money for Miss. Hiss' vet bills to
have her surgery!  Also, Jeff had to have surgery yesterday to remove his
left eye.  Dr. Rice didn't think that it was going to get any better.  Jeff came
home today and is resting comfortably.  We have also raised $100 for Jeff's
surgery as well!  Jeff's vet bill was $400.  Unlike Miss. Hiss, Jeff had to have
an eye stain test done on his right eye, because he also has an ulcer on that
eye too.  Thankfully, the ulcer on the right eye has healed.  There will always
be some cloudiness on his right eye, but he can see out of it.  I'm so glad that
Jeff will not be totally blind.  Thank you everyone for helping to pay for the vet
bills for these very sick kittens.

Update 8/20/07 : Miss. Hiss and Sassy have been adopted!!!  Miss. Hiss has
been renamed "Queen Latifah" for her spunky attitude and Sassy has been
renamed "Midnight".  They will both be going home once they have been
spayed!!!   We have raised $220 so far for the eye surgery for Miss. Hiss!!!!
Only $155 more to go to pay for her vet bill.  Miss. Hiss is now a full fledged
lap cat!  She is so quiet and snuggly.  She loves nothing more than to just sit
in your lap all day - and she purrs non-stop!   I have never met a kitten so
content to just be in your lap.  She has become my little helper while I'm on
the computer too.  She makes sure that my arms are in the most
uncomfortable position to ensure that she's in the most comfortable
position!!!  She likes to place her paws on my forearm and lay her head down
while I type.  It's so cute, but my arm gets tired because I try not to disturb
her - she's just too cute for words!!!

Update : 8/16/07 : Wonderful news!  Miss. Hiss purrrrrrrred for the fist time
today!  I cried when I heard her purring.  It was the most magical sound!  Up
until now, she has felt so sick and painful.  But now she feels so much
better!  She is lounging in the sun, kneading her blanket, snuggling with me
and purring up a storm!  I am so happy at her progress that words cannot
even express my elation and my gratitude to Dr. Rice for making her a
happy, healthy baby again.

Unfortunately, her brother, Jeff, isn't doing as well.  One of Jeff's eyes has
become extremely swollen.  Dr. Bollenbeck advised that I am already doing
all that I can to prevent further deterioration of the eye, but Jeff is slowly
losing the battle.  Most likely Jeff will need to have surgery to remove his
swollen eye as well.

The vet bills are mounting, so if you would like to donate to help these sweet
babies out, please see below.  All donations are greatly appreciated!

Update : 8/15/07 : We have raised $200 for Miss. Hiss' vet bills!!!  Only $175
more to cover all of her expenses.  Thanks so much Brenda for your kind
donation for this sweet baby girl!

Update : 8/14/07 : We had to take Miss. Hiss back to the vet today.  Her eye
had doubled in size and it just wasn't getting any better.  Dr. Rice advised
that the eye needed to come out immediately.  He operated on her and
removed her eye this afternoon.  Miss. Hiss came through the surgery like a
champ and is doing well.  She is isolated from the other kittens right now so
that she can rest and recover completely.  All the staff at the vets office
commented on how sweet and tiny she is!  We are all hopeful that she can
now find a permanent loving home.  The vet bill for Miss. Hiss was $375 for
her surgery.  Ditty Dats & Dogs Rescue is now trying to raise money to help
pay the bill.  If you would like to donate, please see below for instructions on
how to do so.  All donations are greatly appreciated!

Update : 8/6/07 : Miss. Hiss went to the vet today.  He said that she will most
likely have to have surgery to remove one of her eyes.  But, she's too sickly
right now to have the surgery.  She needs to get healthier before her body
can deal with the anesthesia.  Miss. Hiss is back at home resting.  As long
as she doesn't get worse, she will go back to see the doctor in two weeks to
determine if surgery will be necessary.  The hope is that within two weeks
the infection in the eye will be gone and she will have perked up.  Meg & Jeff
also saw the doctor today.  They are doing well, and will not lose their eyes
as long as they continue to progress as they are.  Their eyes will take weeks
if not a few months to completely heal.  But, they are expected to regain full
vision in both of their eyes - yay!

Update : 8/4/07 : Miss. Hiss has taken a slight turn for the worse.  She had
started to perk up and play with the other kittens, but now she is very
lethargic.  Discharge has started to come out of her bad eye again too, and
it's slightly swollen as well.  Dr. Rice has given us some advice to keep her
comfortable over the weekend.  We're taking her in to see Dr. Rice first thing
Monday morning to see if there's anything else we can do to make this baby
more comfortable and to get her healthy quicker.  She's such a little baby,
and has definitely stolen my heart.

07/29/07 : On Sunday, July 29th, Ditty Dats & Dogs visited a local family to
see if we could help with their feral cat colony.  All of the kittens in this
colony were very ill and needed medical treatment.  We ended up taking in
two of the kittens that day.  The solid black male kitten was named Mitch,
and the female torti with white paws we named Sassy.

On Monday morning we took both kittens to see Dr. Len Rice from Towne
Animal Clinic to diagnose their illness.  Both of them have severe upper
respiratory infections and poor Mitch has an ulcer on his cornea.  Dr. Rice
put the kittens on Clavamox (antibiotic) and also on two types of eye drops
(one is an anti-viral and the other is an antibiotic drop).  We also picked up
FrontLine as the kittens were infested with fleas.

Later that night we went back and caught the other 9 kittens!  Eleven is
Heaven!

All of them were bathed, given FrontLine, de-wormed (their bellies were
HUGE from having so many worms), and given their meds.  These babies are
very sick, but are starting to bounce back.  All of them have names now as
well!

 Sassy (A.K.A. "Midnight")
Mitch
Joy
Jeff (A.K.A. "Jack")
Krista (A.K.A. "Katie")
Dylan
Bubbles
Sam
Lynn
Meg
Miss. Hiss (A.K.A. "Queen Latifah")

We are very concerned about two of the kittens (Miss. Hiss and Meg).  The damage to their eyes is severe, and may be irreversible.  It is possible that
each kitten might lose one of their eyes.  If the current treatment does not
help, then we will take them back to see Dr. Rice to see if he recommends
surgery to remove their eyes.

Please keep our littles babies in your thoughts and let's all hope that they
pull through okay.  We are ever hopeful that they won't need surgery and can
find permanent, loving homes quickly.

If you would like to donate to help pay for their vet bills it would be greatly
appreciated!  Please see below for how to donate.
